Popcorn, Pirate Hunts, and Planning

In this blog post, read about how JCEF Board members met in person for the very first time.

Years of virtual zoom meetings, digital discourse, and pixelated dots had finally come to an end for our board members earlier last month. JCEF Board Members were able to meet in person for the very first time on the weekend of June 3rd for our annual Board Meeting. During this weekend, in the quiet, beautiful town of Batavia, we sat down for what would be an evening of laughs, treasure hunts, and delicious spaghetti and meatballs. Most importantly however, updates on the campus as well as our exciting new fundraiser were discussed.

The weekend began with a trip to Batavia Popcorn Depot, which is a historic landmark in Batavia where one can grab gourmet popcorn that comes in caramel, regular, or cheese.

Pro-tip: we recommend you mix all three!

Later that evening, we sat around the table and hand wrote thank you notes to our Donors. We are so grateful to all of our supporters and donors who give to JE. On the day of the meeting, we took some time to reflect, and get to know a little more about each other. Fun fact: Half of our board members traveled in from different locations- Alexus flew in from Atlanta, Judy traveled from Topeka, Stewart drove in from Cary, and Alex traveled from Chicago. As the meeting progressed, next steps regarding JE were discussed, and we are excited to announce there will be some exciting updates to the website and social media, along with a fun new fundraiser which we think you all will really enjoy, so be on the lookout for those updates. JE has experienced so much positive change, and we really want to emphasize our gratitude to our donors.
